Halewood International appointed CBA to carry out Quantity Surveying and Contract Administrator duties on their new distillery in Leith, Edinburgh. The works came to a temporary halt due to archaeological finds with excavating for the building foundations. Some of the archaeological finds included a boulder wall, thought to date from medieval times, as well as archaeological finds dating back to industrial usage at the turn of the last century, including the remains of furnaces and chimneys. Pottery and other artefacts were discovered and it’s hoped these will be displayed in the Visitor Centre once complete.
Works included the partial demolition of an existing industrial use building, replacement roof coverings, new mezzanine and internal fit out to form a Distillery. Site works included parking, soft and hard landscaping and the erection of an ancillary building.
The Distillery was completed in November 2019 and work will begin on the Visitor Centre early 2020.
